Large Multisite – Nothing Seems to Happen

Hi,
I have purchased the plugin and am using it on a large multisite (500 sites).
However, when I run the cleanup operation, the ‘Please wait for operation to complete’ window shows but the operation never seems to complete i.e. I had it running all night.
All of the logs seem to be empty also.

Please help,

Conor

    Hi,

First, if you run Network cleanup it will affect only network related/shared database tables. To cleanup individual sites tables, plugin needs to be used with each site independently. Plan is to have network control cleanup affecting all sites at once, but that is planned for version 5.0 and no timeframe for that release exists yet.

As for your problem, cleanup mostly didn’t even start due to the error, either in JavaScript or on server side. Can you list exactly which tools for cleanup you checked for use? Also, when you start the process, check out if there are any JavaScript errors in the browser (Firebug for Firefox debugger or similar). And check out server error log for any errors in PHP logged there.

Having a network wide scan would be great, looking forward to this feature.

I am getting a javascript/500 error when starting the scan process (all features are checked):
    …/wp-admin/admin-ajax.php?action=smart_cleanup_run

What would be the best way to chase this error down?

    Many thanks,

    Conor

OK, 500 internal server errors points to a problem on a server side. You need to check the server error log where PHP logs errors. In 99% of the cases, servers are configured to store errors in log files, but it depends on the server and hosting company where this file is located. If you are not sure, check control panel for your server hosting or consult hosting company. You can upload ZIP-ed version of the log file here, and I can check it out for you.

Hi, I thnk I have traced the issue back to a fcgid configuration issue.
Thanks for your help, will let you know if anything else pops up.
