QR Code specification has a limit of around 3Kb – that is 2953 8bit binary characters, 4296 alphanumeric characters (normal text) or 7089 numerical characters. If your content contains 16bit unicode characters, the limit is even lower. For normal text you can assume limit of between 3000 and 4000 characters on the safe side.
