I got an answer from wpmu dev and they told me this change will not cause coursepress plugin to malfunction.

I tried this on my local host installation. I change all the elements from ‘public’ => false, to ‘public’ => true, but still the sidebar isn’t appearing on course pages.

Any idea?

I’ve attached some screenshots and the child theme that I made all the changes for your convenience.
